Youth Forum

Make your Point

The young people accessing Media Academy Cardiff (MAC) believe that young people can contribute many important ideas and opinions that should be heard by those making the decisions that affect everyones lives. So MAC Youth Forum was created to give young people a chance to get their ideas and opinions out there!

The forum meets regularly, usually around once a month, to discuss issues facing young people today. The forum then decide what they can do to highlight these issues such as initiating petitions or writing letters. The forum is led entirely by young people, so any issues discussed or actions taken are entirely young people led.

The MAC Youth Forum has had great success in the past months with many influential people in Government and the Community coming to listen to what the young people in the forum had to say! An example of this is when the Secretary of State for Wales, David Jones MP, came to visit the forum. The discussion between the youth forum and David Jones was featured on ITV Wales News and in the Western Mail. The MAC youth forum have also met with the Youth Justice Board to feedback their ideas on how young people should be treated by the Criminal Justice system.
