Braver Choices - Anti Knife Crime Project
'A clear and important message' - Bro Morgannwg
Media Academy Cardiff is proud to deliver in conjunction with the Home Office, a Knife Crime Awareness project These workshops are to be delivered to young people or children aged 11-16 in key stage 3 and 4 in school and aim to educate those present on the laws, regulations and impact carrying a bladed weapon may have on not only the perpetrator but also the victim.
'Your session complements the police session perfectly, enabling young people to reflect on the law but also providing the opportunity to reflect on the consequences for the individual as well as the wider community' - Bryntirion Comprehensive School
The project aims to deliver to 3600 young people and children in 30 schools and varying establishments by March 2019. Through these workshops we also aim to identify a cohort of 36 young people who will have been assessed as high risk of being involved in carrying or using weapons such as knives. We will as a team work with these young people and provide further interventions to support them in making braver choices.
With the project garnering mainstream media coverage from the likes of the BBC and interest from ITV, 'Braver Choices' is at the forefront of Anti-Knife Crime-related education in the South-East Wales area and through a fun and all-inclusive learning environment seeks to improve the health and wellbeing of all young people.
